Coastline Equipment/John Deer Retail Center

Bragg Companies has constructed a new retail center consisting of a new two-story building (Building A) and a remodeled one-story building at its existing facility in Long Beach, CA (Building B). JRMA provided structural engineering services for both buildings.

Building A is a new two-story, fixed base, steel special moment frame office/parts depot with a large partially self-supported exterior wing wall sign feature. The second floor is open to the lobby below and is accessed by two structurally exposed steel framed stairs. The lobby storefront clear spans to the second-floor roof. The sign feature is independently supported from the building on each end at ground level utilizing steel braced frames and at each of the two front corners of Building A second floor roof. Between each of the support points the sign feature clear spans utilizing 10’ deep steel trusses. The project also included site improvements of masonry property and trash enclosure walls, light standards, and parking canopies.

Building B is an existing service repair shop onto which a new exterior facade was added. In addition, an existing canopy was enclosed, and a new 60’ x 60’ steel ordinary moment frame shop with a 10-ton overhead crane was added.
