EDI Transfer Station & MRF
Escondido, CAEscondido Disposal Inc. (EDI) is a family owned and operated company serving northern San Diego County. When they needed to expand their facilities, they tapped JRMA to provide design services. Phase I of this multi-year expansion project includes development of a 5 acre site and renovation and expansion of an existing building to create a 104,097 square foot facility. The result will create a more efficient transfer station and materials recovery facility that dramatically increases the diversion rate of the operation. The project also includes a 4,416 square foot maintenance facility, 16,777 square foot renovated bale storage area, administrative offices, and employee support areas. JRMA also provided transportation planning to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow throughout the facility.
As the public face of Escondido Disposal, JRMA worked with city staff to maintain the historical character of the existing building and carry this throughout the project. In addition, the site was enhanced by drought tolerant landscape with stone and native plants. The new facility ensures that Escondido Disposal will remain a leader in providing integrated, user-friendly waste removal and recycling services to its customers.
