Raytheon RMT Hangar Facility ONT

This new hangar located at the Guardian Jet Center at Ontario International Airport serves Raytheon’s operations as part of its relocation from LAX. The 28,185 SF hangar features a two-story office/shop area and is located directly adjacent to the Guardian Jet Center Hangars. The project site had a limited width, requiring the design of a special bi-parting roll-back hangar door to allow for nearly the entire width of the hangar to be clear for aircraft entry and departure. The hangar design was customized for Raytheon’s operational requirements and included unique power requirements, fall-protection apparatus, and mechanicals. The office/shop area provides spaces for shops, restrooms, break area, and office and administrative support. Given the sensitivity of the owner’s internal operations, special consideration of security issues was integrated into all aspects of the facility. These design features were included in access control, building programming, hangar door design and visual sight lines from the public street.
